The Return of Napoleon [aka TRoN] Club Series Games
Herts Volunteers 1st Club Project in 2009 which was a Napoleonic 28mm big boy Game with 16 players & over 3000 figures on table [mix plastic and metal] TRoN was French Civil War set in 1815 - based on 'what if' ?' scenario in 1815 with Napoleon landing in south at Antibes , marching /taking Grenoble, recruiting forces along the way , with Bourbon forces marching from all points in France to attempt to defeat Bonapartist forces outside Lyon - with sides changing all the time based on series random card driven events. None of the players [apart from L'Empereur of course who definately knew he was not for the Bourbons] knew who was going to be on what side , as a series of random events would dictate if you were Bourbon or Bonapartist but then again you may find you swopped sides a few times , at least until combat was joined . Lots negotiating between the players and their commands , with ADC's galloping with orders to do this and that, all over the place. Based on Paul Britten Austin fine book "1815 The Return of Napoleon" aka TRoN - only few things were guarenteed on the day - mayhem , sausage rolls & beer for lunch , Napoleon was in the field and all the troops on the field were French [well , apart from some Swiss & Polish troops ] Rules were club mish-mash of WH Napoleonic [from the forum] & Sharp Practice. Steve Lampon did great job creating the character playing cards. Resulted in a hard fought and close , but eventual Bonapartist victory. Ney galloped back to Paris with remanents of Maison du Roi , to tell Fat Louis the news .....

A fantastic looking game with a mass of some superb figures and terrain pieces. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat and appreciate the good comments - you were afterall 1 of the famous 16 players taking part - who squeezed around the table for the game - good job most of the club are'nt as well fed as some in our happy band otherwise we'd never have managed 1 turn let alone 10... :)
